Maria E. Luisi, MSW, LMSW
One of my biggest values in therapy is an authentic relationship between a client and therapist. This relationship is the key to empowering individuals to understand themselves on a deeper level and to promote change in their respective lives. My approach to therapy is to first provide a warm and comforting atmosphere, building a strong trust with each client who enters my office. Together we will work to individualize your experience and understand the deeper root or the "why" - whether that be childhood experiences, a history of trauma or troubling relationships. Our work together will always be collaborative.
My specialties include eating disorders, body image, anxiety, depression, trauma and addictions. I work with most ages, typically teenagers and adults. I specialize in individual therapy, couples therapy and family therapy.
Since 2017, I have worked with many individuals to learn more about themselves and promote change in their lives. One size does not fit all, therefore I tailor my approach with each client that enters my office. I value holding strong empathy, but also see the importance of providing challenge in our work. I offer a free phone consult to get started.
I earned my Masters in Social Work (MSW) at New York University, Silver School of Social Work. My prior degree includes a Bachelors in Social Work (BSW) from Ramapo College of New Jersey. I am certified in the treatment of eating disorders, individuals and families from Adelphi University. I was the recipient of the 2019 Deans Award for Innovation in Social Work Practice from New York University.
